Celebrating Collaboration
Event:Poetry Reading
Organization: Dawn Anderson, Poet Laureate for the City of Wausau and the Marathon County Public Library Celebrate Wausau: The Public Library & Poet Laureate Dawn Anderson As Wausau celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022, join MCPL staff for a virtual look back at the history of the Wausau library, along with poems from Wausau Poet Laureate Dawn Anderson! Click here to watch! This is a passport event. Somewhere during the livestream, you will be told what to put in your passport! Self-Guided Tour:The February tour will be the history of hospitals in Wausau. We hope to have this up soon - we are waiting on the proofing from the historical society. 5/24/22 JMF

Celebrating Historic Preservation & Main Street Month
Events:Tales Between Two Depots
May 15, 2022 Noon - 4 pm "Tales Between Two Depots" is a walking tour that will take you past seven of Wausau's most iconic historic buildings. Along the way, participants will meet characters from Wausau's past who will give a brief overview of each building and tell stories of the people and events that made the building an important part of our history and shaped our community into what it is today. June 24-25, 2022 Downtown Wausau Airport Organization: Wausau Events Come explore the history of the Downtown Wausau Airport, while enjoying an entire weekend of events with Wausau Events! Pool Day
June 23, 2022 Current and previous Wausau Pools 1 - 4 pm Organization: Wausau/Marathon Cty Parks Dept and Wausau Fire Department Come splash away your day at a Wausau Pool! There will be a day of games at Kaiser, Memorial, and Schulenburg Pools. Don't swim? Try the pop up slip and slide at the site of the former McDonald Pool at Riverside Park with the Wausau Fire Department. Self-Guided Tour: |

Marathon Park The day will start off with a parade at 11 am that will start at 3rd Ave and W Wausau Ave. It will continue down 3rd Ave to Garfield Street and turn right, following Garfield into Marathon Park. Starting at noon at Marathon Park, there will be live entertainment with the Wausau Concert Band, The Allen Brothers, an Airkraft reunion concert, The Brady Luke Band and Vic Ferrari! The music will be accompanied by a beer tent, food stands, family activities, the Business Showcase and the Farm History Museum. Self-Guided Tour:Wausau Parks
Our parks provide beautiful spaces for enjoying the summer weather with family and friends. Did you know that many of the parks have been around longer than our city has? Complete this tour on your own the month of July to receive a stamp on your Wausau Passport! |
